Keep your skin Divine!

Recently I was lucky enough to attend the Real Food Revolution event, held at the Crowne Plaza in Surfers Paradise.

This was an amazing opportunity to open my mind up to some new health and wellness information; and gosh, there is SO much to learn!

One presentation that really struck a cord with me was Therese Kerr‘s speech on organic beauty products.

It is hard to imagine that beauty or self-care products could be poisonous, particularly when the label refers to “organic”, “pure” or “safe”. The reality is that unless you read the ingredient label, understand organic certification and consider the packaging you really don’t know what you are putting on your skin and in your body by way of absorption through the skin.

You can absorb MORE toxins from personal, skin and hair care products than you can absorb from your food!

Our skin is said to absorb chemicals up to 10 times faster than by way of ingestion and that is because our skin simply doesn’t have the digestive enzymes to break down the chemicals that our digestive system has available to it. The average woman puts over 200+ chemicals a day on her skin, of which 65-70% is being absorbed by the body… yuckie! The Divine by Therese Kerr range of natural products are certified by Australia’s most stringent certification body, The ACO, and are also Australian made.

Therese recommended using an app called “The Chemical Maze”, so that you can look into what precisely is within your products. Nowadays before I purchase any products I am sure to check the ingredient list and look each chemical up to see if it is naturally derived, and safe to use.

I sampled almost the entire range of Divine products at the Real Food Revolution and loved them! I kept going back for more of the Aloe Vera, Chamomile & Lavender Baby Moisturiser – it was so luxurious and the smell was amazing. Who’s to say I can’t have baby soft skin! 😛

Until Sunday 26th July you can claim a $25 gift voucher with the code “BLESSING”. What a great opportunity to treat yourself to a product that will love you back. I had to share this awesome shopping opportunity with you!

Chia Pud!

Oh hallo friends!

Today I’ll be sharing with you my super simple Chia Pudding recipes 🙂

I’ve tried a few different puds in the last few months to try and perfect the flavour. And I have to say I am pretty happy with these results!

My Vanilla Chia Pudding is a nice plain go-to if you want a brekkie-to-go or a work snack.

It’s lovely mixed with seasonal fruit, this time I chose fresh pawpaw.

You’ll need…

  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1 cup original Coco-Milk OR unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp raw maca powder
  • 1/4 tsp organic ceylon cinnamon
  • Two drops of organic vanilla essence
  • Maple syrup & fruit of choice for serving

Add the chia seeds, maca powder and cinnamon to a small jar, and mix to combine.
Pour in the milk and add the vanilla essence, stir well. Place in fridge overnight to set.

I bought some budget friendly jam jars from Kmart for my puddings, they are the perfect size and leak proof.

Garden Fresh

Lately my life has been a little hectic, to say the least!

After some car dramas and extra work commitments, I had hardly spent any time at home-sweet-home. I was craving the creature comforts such as my own bed and my own tea mugs!

I arrived home this evening with a giant to-do list, and a small window of time before I needed to bundle myself off for a much-needed sleep.

Earlier on today I paid a visit to the lovely folk at Gold Coast Organic Meats. For $24 I was happily on my way with six Paleo beef rissoles, six Paleo beef sausages, and two gluten free crumbed chicken rissoles.

I cooked a beef rissole for dinner in some virgin coconut oil, and grabbed some fresh pink rosemary and parsley from my herb garden to sprinkle into the pan.

I also popped some Sun Drop tomatoes into the pan after the rissole was done, with some extra rosemary to brighten them up. These tomatoes were store bought, but I have a small plant happily growing that I started from a too-squishy tomato! I love germinating my own plants from food scraps – it’s cost effective and super rewarding 🙂

I plucked some fresh mixed lettuce leaves and Tuscan kale from my garden and dressed it with the warmed tomatoes and some Himalayan salt and black pepper.

My rosemary really made this dish as it was so sweet and flavourful! I originally bought my rosemary plant from Bunnings.

I love keeping food simple, clean and healthy. It doesn’t get more simple than this!

Let me know what edible plants you have grown from cuttings or food scraps in the comments below – I’d love to hear some new ideas.

Sea clouds

Early this morning my mother roused the family from our sleep to head down to Elephant Rock for the Dawn Service.

Hundreds of people had gathered on the beach to pay their respects and spend time remembering those who gave their lives for our country.

Watching the sun rise over the sea as the bugle played was a moving background for the scenes of Gallipoli that were playing in my mind’s eye.

We Will Remember Them.

🌹

After brekkie and a nap I’m now laying on the beach staring at the clouds as they drift on by. They look close enough to touch today!

There’s nowhere I’d rather be than laying on the beach in the last scrap of sunshine before winter is truly upon us.

Busy little bumblebee

In my experience, things always happen all at once! And this time of year has been no exception.

I love to keep myself busy and I’ve taken on some extra work, but this means Lexie Lou has been getting a little neglected (but not for long)! I have some very exciting things planned for next month… Including my very first giveaway for Lexie Lou’s first birthday! Watch this space 😉

The colder weather brings a whole new world of fashion and accessorizing, and I’m so ready to get snuggled back up in my fluffy favourites.

Friday Shreds

Happy Friday darlings!

Today I’m busting out an old favourite for an after work drinks event… my Black Milk Clothing “Shredder Dress”.

Now if I’m honest… I forgot that I even owned this. I have way too many clothes – and I’ve culled significant amounts from my wardrobe in the past two years!! They tend to somehow accumulate again rather quickly… Hmm 😛

This dress is super flattering and very versatile. When in doubt.. wear black!

What’s your go-to piece for Friday afternoon fun times?

Happy Egg Day!

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you’re all having a wonderful long weekend, even if it is a bit wet!

Easter is my second fave favourite holiday, after all the fuss of Christmas I often forget about it and then it creeps on up… bonus holiday!

As I don’t have much (if any) dairy, Easter has always been a bit alternative for me 😛 This year I found some adorable macarons at The Standard Market and I decided they would be my naughty treat for the holiday. They’re so cute – how could I resist them?!
