Les Bubbles

I guiltily noticed recently that an astounding two months had passed since I’d made a new post! Rest assured I hadn’t forgotten about poor old Lexie Lou, but in that two months I’ve been busy as always.

After coming home from a two week holiday in Perth for my best friend’s wedding, I was soon back into the swing of things… working my two jobs, preparing to move house, and trying to catch up on my ironing :/

I decided to make some time for my love and I to have a night out on our own. The first restaurant that popped into my head was Les Bubbles, a Parisian steakhouse in Fortitude Valley that had been popping up all over my Facebook newsfeed.

We got all gussied up in our finest, and off we went!

Les Bubbles do things a little bit differently to other restaurants… they offer one main that they know they do well! Quality grass fed beef is chargrilled to medium rare perfection, and the most delicious fries (or as we say at Les Bubbles, frites) grace your plate. And did I mention the frites are bottomless?!

I requested gluten free bread with my entree of a warm leaf salad and was pleasantly surprised with a fresh, thickly cut slice that delighted my tastebuds (with a light slather of butter :P). To keep my meal FODMAP friendly I refrained from ordering any sauce to accompany my steak. I also paired my meal with a delicious Chandon Rose which went down a treat! It would have been rude not to order bubbles 😉

They also offer vegetarian and pescatarian options, so all will feel comfortable at this steakhouse. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming whilst keeping it’s funky edge, and was certainly somewhere I would recommend for families, couples, young and old alike!

Our food was delicious, and the service was spectacular. We will certainly be back for more!

Ferngully Fairy… Part Two

Welcome to Part Two of my Ferngully-esque escape into the Mt Coot-Tha Botanical Gardens!

I’m again wearing some beautiful pieces from Chip The Teacup, and I have to tell you… I’m dying for Summer to roll around again so I can sparkle all over the sea-side!

This high-waisted two pieces has a little gold sparkle through it, so up close it really catches your eye and it definitely puts a smile on my dial 😀

I often struggle to find swimsuits that I feel comfortable in and can really feel fabulous in… this one fits the bill better than I could have dreamed! Appropriate lady lump support plus fully lined & padded in the bust, and a flattering bottoms cut that isn’t going to give you a saggy nanna behind. Sorry Nannas. 😛

I paired my togs with a sheer midi length tulle skirt from Black Milk Clothing. All the links to these products can be found at the bottom of this post!

Ferngully Fairy… Part One

Hello everyone, and happy Friday!

I’m increasingly frightened by how fast this year has been passing us by.. eek! Anyone have any tips to slow down time? Even just a little?!

As I’m sure you know by now, I’m all about the slow life! Slow living, slow eating and of course the slow fashion movement! This has been quite a journey for me, as you have to reset your whole approach and mindset when it comes to consuming.

To slow down my weekend, I recently spent some time at the beautiful Mt Coot-Tha Botanical Gardens with my brother to soak up some natural vibes 🙂

I wore my gorgeous Chip The Teacup dress… which really stood out and I certainly got a few looks!

If you haven’t heard of Chip The Teacup, you can check out their gorgeous unicorn and mermaid worthy attire HERE. They are also on Facebook and (my personal fave) Instagram.

CTT love the slow fashion movement just as much as I do, with each piece lovingly handmade to last in beautiful Lennox Head, NSW. The quality is exactly what you would expect from something locally made with love, with the sizing definitely being a true fit and flattering!

Full outfit details will be included at the bottom of this post 🙂

Fresh & Raw Wellbeing Smoothie Delight

For an easy brekkie on the go, I’ve been whipping up this light and delightful vanilla & cinnamon smoothie!

Cinnamon & Maca are my super-foods of choice for my morning smoothie – they have a terrific array of benefits which include hormone regulation. I have had success with clearing up my skin and reducing PMS by increasing my Maca powder intake.

Here’s how to make your own 🙂

You’ll need:

• 1 1/2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
• 1 1/2 tbsp Vanilla & Lucuma Paleo Fermented Protein Powder from Amazonia
• 1/4 tsp organic Ceylon cinnamon
• 1 tsp organic raw Maca powder
• 1 tsp organic maple syrup
• 1/2 a banana

Using a blender, combine all ingredients throughly, serve with an extra sprinkle of cinnamon & enjoy!

I sipped mine while I flipped through this utterly gorgeous copy of Wellbeing mag! I couldn’t walk past this beautiful cover art.

What’s your favourite smoothie recipe?

Keep your skin Divine!

Recently I was lucky enough to attend the Real Food Revolution event, held at the Crowne Plaza in Surfers Paradise.

This was an amazing opportunity to open my mind up to some new health and wellness information; and gosh, there is SO much to learn!

One presentation that really struck a cord with me was Therese Kerr‘s speech on organic beauty products.

lexieloublog

It is hard to imagine that beauty or self-care products could be poisonous, particularly when the label refers to “organic”, “pure” or “safe”. The reality is that unless you read the ingredient label, understand organic certification and consider the packaging you really don’t know what you are putting on your skin and in your body by way of absorption through the skin.

You can absorb MORE toxins from personal, skin and hair care products than you can absorb from your food!

Our skin is said to absorb chemicals up to 10 times faster than by way of ingestion and that is because our skin simply doesn’t have the digestive enzymes to break down the chemicals that our digestive system has available to it. The average woman puts over 200+ chemicals a day on her skin, of which 65-70% is being absorbed by the body… yuckie! The Divine by Therese Kerr range of natural products are certified by Australia’s most stringent certification body, The ACO, and are also Australian made.

Therese recommended using an app called “The Chemical Maze”, so that you can look into what precisely is within your products. Nowadays before I purchase any products I am sure to check the ingredient list and look each chemical up to see if it is naturally derived, and safe to use.

I sampled almost the entire range of Divine products at the Real Food Revolution and loved them! I kept going back for more of the Aloe Vera, Chamomile & Lavender Baby Moisturiser – it was so luxurious and the smell was amazing. Who’s to say I can’t have baby soft skin! 😛

Until Sunday 26th July you can claim a $25 gift voucher with the code “BLESSING”. What a great opportunity to treat yourself to a product that will love you back. I had to share this awesome shopping opportunity with you!

I really, truly love these products – and I promise to you that I wouldn’t recommend them if I didn’t!!

Chia Pud!

Oh hallo friends!

Today I’ll be sharing with you my super simple Chia Pudding recipes 🙂

I’ve tried a few different puds in the last few months to try and perfect the flavour. And I have to say I am pretty happy with these results!

My Vanilla Chia Pudding is a nice plain go-to if you want a brekkie-to-go or a work snack.

It’s lovely mixed with seasonal fruit, this time I chose fresh pawpaw.

You’ll need…

  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1 cup original Coco-Milk OR unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp raw maca powder
  • 1/4 tsp organic ceylon cinnamon
  • Two drops of organic vanilla essence
  • Maple syrup & fruit of choice for serving

Add the chia seeds, maca powder and cinnamon to a small jar, and mix to combine.
Pour in the milk and add the vanilla essence, stir well. Place in fridge overnight to set.

I bought some budget friendly jam jars from Kmart for my puddings, they are the perfect size and leak proof.

Pastel Play Time

Hello lovers! This my my third and final set of photos (for now!!) from my latest visit to Ra Ra Superstar.

My first outfit pictured here was a bit more cutesy-punk and features an adorable mini skirt made from recycled denim. A really flattering little piece that you could wear out to a party or during the day to a picnic!

The sheer socks are super soft and too cute to be believed. And to spice up any outfit, why not grab a giant eyeball pom pom hairband? Such a unique piece!!

I couldn’t resist this wee little set – a combination of florals and pastels…. we all know they are two of my very favourite things! The neckline on this top is super sweet, and it has a cross-over back for those who like to show a little skin 🙂
