Happy Easter everyone! I hope you’re all having a wonderful long weekend, even if it is a bit wet!
Easter is my second fave favourite holiday, after all the fuss of Christmas I often forget about it and then it creeps on up… bonus holiday!
As I don’t have much (if any) dairy, Easter has always been a bit alternative for me 😛 This year I found some adorable macarons at The Standard Market and I decided they would be my naughty treat for the holiday. They’re so cute – how could I resist them?!
I also received a very special and sparkly parcel from my lovely new friends at Chip The Teacup just before the Easter break… I am very excited to show you what lovely surprises I received!
Here’s a teaser…
Don’t forget to check out the new Shop My Wardrobe page, I’ll be uploading great quality items at bargain prices!
Happy holidays to you all, make sure you tell me what delicious treats you’ve all been feasting on, so that I may live vicariously through you! 😛
This weekend I was lucky enough to have the chance to escape the city for a brief getaway to indulge in a little R&R.
I had spent some time trawling the AirBNB website in search of something affordable that would offer an interesting new experience, when Stringybark Cottage caught my eye! Situated in Eumundi, close to Noosa and Coolum Beach, this was a great spot to explore some fantastic holiday spots I had heard of, but never visited. I quickly contacted the host to book a weekend getaway for my boyfriend and I.
I fell instantly in love with Stringybark Cottage, it’s set in an award winning garden and you feel a million miles away from the crazy city life. The whole cottage is sustainably designed and built, was more than comfortably sized for two people, and had everything we needed. So many vintage delights within! It was the ideal retreat.
On the Saturday morning we went to the famous Eumundi Markets (my first time there!). My highlights were some freshly made vegan rice paper rolls, packed with veggies, tofu, seeds and nuts. I washed these down with the most delicious freshly squeezed lime juice I’ve ever had – so refreshing! I also discovered my new favourite dress from local designer Butterscotch Castle… can you believe this used to be a man’s shirt? Up-cycled, repurposed sustainable fashion is the best 🙂
We also spent time climbing around in the rock pools near Coolum Beach lookout, young and old alike were joyfully plunging into one particularly deep rock pool.
For dinner we ate at Sushi YahMan, a sushi restaurant with a Jamaican theme. We received great service and the sushi was soooo good!
I can’t wait to visit the Eumundi area again and find more local delights! I would love to hear your recommendations 🙂
It feels like only a few days ago that the Black Milk Birthday Party antics were wrapping up for 2013… and yet here we are now just recuperating from the sheer insanity that is SharkieCon!!
The first SharkieCon to hit Australia, this was truly a weekend to be remembered!
I spent the weekend sunning myself by the pool at Aloha Waters with five beautiful women who really made the weekend extra special. Our holiday house was beautifully appointed and was on the canal at Broadbeach Waters. This was truly a restful and luxurious retreat, perfect for a girls weekend away!
We made the pilgrimage to Brisbane for the Birthday Party, this year held at the Queensland Museum; what a venue!
I had my makeup done by the wonderful Sarah Kay, she always looks after me for my creative make up needs! I stocked up on bindis and we got quite sparkle happy with my unicorn makeup look for the night 🙂
I wore my custom unicorn play dress, I call it the “Lexie Play Dress” – it was made for me as a goodbye gift when I left Black Milk a few months ago (and I adore it!). I also wore the Black Milk En Pointe Tulle Skirt which is such a gorgeous and flattering piece.
Sharks, whales and underwater creatures surrounded the partygoers in many rooms, an aerial gymnast curled and floated on her ring suspended from the roof, and beautifully costumed ethereal creatures on stilts walked amongst the sharkies who were dancing like there was no tomorrow!
All in all, a spectacular time, and I cannot wait to do it all again!!
There’s a timid sense of wanderlust within me that sparks up every now and again, and keeps me on my toes. This year I’ve had a few toe-tinglings for Perth, one of my favourite locations.
The coastal suburbs of Western Australia are the most supreme combination of bush and beach, two of the most grounding elements in my life. This makes WA the perfect place to recharge my batteries!
My bestie snapped these shots when I was doing just that, earlier in October. We scouted through miles of seaweed and mermaid’s purses to find the most delightful sea shells, and we even encountered a contently snoring seal on a secluded part of the untouched shore.
I have quite the love affair with Perth (and there’s more to come about that later 😉 ) and this little boutique definitely adds to the reasons why!
I discovered Gipsy Boy Boutique on instagram a few months ago, and knew straight away it was right up my alley! My best friend checked it out and agreed, and we made a date to visit this adorable establishment on my next Perth holiday.
Sure enough, when I arrived it blew my expectations out of the water 🙂
The shelves were stocked with great labels that perfectly complemented the carefree bohemian vibe of the store, gorgeous sparkling crystals, and a wide assortment of vintage teacups to choose from.
Another reason to adore Gipsy Boy is that they combine my three all time favourite things… tea, food & fashion.
Delicious and nutritious raw desserts accompany a fresh tasty menu using locally sourced food, and a range of teas to suit any tastebuds 🙂
We were very well looked after this quiet morning at Gipsy Boy Boutique, and it’s very safe to say that we will be back! 🙂
